Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE (Nintendo Switch)

Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is a single-player action-adventure for Nintendo Switch, published by Spike Chunsoft. You follow Yuma, an amnesiac detective-in-training, and Shinigami, the spirit haunting him, as they tackle unsolved mysteries. The game is rated PEGI 16.

An amnesiac detective and a haunting spirit

The story centres on a pair: Yuma, a detective-in-training who has lost his memory, and Shinigami, the spirit that haunts him. Together they take on unsolved mysteries, which gives the game its detective framework and drives the plot.

The genres are listed as Action and Adventure, so alongside the investigation theme you can expect an adventure game structure rather than a pure puzzle or simulation experience. Spike Chunsoft, the publisher, is the name behind the release.

Gameplay and features

• A detective story starring Yuma and Shinigami
• Unsolved mysteries as the core of the plot
• Action and Adventure genres
• Single-player experience
• Rated PEGI 16
• On-screen text in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese
• Physical game card for Nintendo Switch

Mystery games often reward attention to detail, and the premise here puts a character with no memory at the centre of the case. That gives the story room to reveal details gradually, alongside the unsolved mysteries the pair investigate.

Because this is a one-player adventure with action elements, it suits players who like to follow a story at their own speed. The pairing of a forgetful detective and a spirit that haunts him sets up a classic mystery dynamic, with one character piecing together the truth while the other is never far from his side.

Why play it on Nintendo Switch

Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is a Nintendo Switch game on a physical game card. Story-led adventures suit solo play, and the single-player focus means you can progress at your own pace without worrying about other players.

The PEGI 16 rating means it is aimed at older teenagers and adults rather than young children. If you enjoy mystery and detective stories where the cast and the case matter as much as the mechanics, it is the sort of game that rewards patient play.
