The Surge 2 (PS4)

The Surge 2 is a sci-fi action RPG from Focus Entertainment, and this PS4 disc drops you into the heart of Jericho City. Armour-clad soldiers enforce martial law, robots are on a rampage and a nanostorm looms over the cityscape.

Welcome to Jericho City

The city is devastated, and you have to explore it while fighting off its numerous and ferocious threats. Combat is unforgiving, which sets the tone for the whole game.

The standout mechanic is the Limb Targeting System. Rather than simply wearing enemies down, you slash and tear equipment from your foes, so the fights are as much about what you can take as what you can survive.

Gameplay and features

• A devastated city to explore, under martial law
• Unforgiving combat against ferocious threats
• The dynamic Limb Targeting System for tearing equipment from enemies
• Soldiers, rampaging robots and a looming nanostorm to contend with
• Single-player action RPG gameplay
• DUALSHOCK 4 vibration and Remote Play support

Why play it on PS4

The game is a single-player PS4 disc with optional online features, DUALSHOCK 4 vibration and Remote Play support. The age rating is MENA rating 18, so it is intended for adult players.

On-screen languages include English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Russian, Korean and Portuguese (Brazil).

It will suit players who like demanding combat and a heavy sci-fi mood. The Limb Targeting System gives the fights a tactical edge, because choosing which part of an enemy to hit affects what you walk away with, and the city setting gives the story a strong sense of place.

As a role-playing game, progression comes from the gear you build up rather than reflexes alone, and since the Limb Targeting System lets you take equipment from foes, every fight has a payoff beyond simply surviving.
