The Quarry (PS5)

The Quarry is a cinematic horror game from Supermassive Games, published by 2K, and this is the physical disc for PlayStation 5. It is rated PEGI 18 and built around one question: who makes it through the night?

One last night at Hackett's Quarry

The sun is setting on the final day of summer camp, and the counselors of Hackett's Quarry throw a party to celebrate. Things quickly go wrong. Hunted by blood-drenched locals and something far more sinister, the teens' plans unravel into an unpredictable night of horror. You play as each of the nine counselors, and every decision, big or small, shapes the story and decides who lives to tell the tale.

Gameplay and features

• Play as each of the nine counselors in a cinematic, choice-driven story
• Facial capture and filmic lighting, with performances from a Hollywood cast
• Party horror couch co-op, where each player controls a counselor
• Online play for up to 8 players with PS Plus, where invited players watch along and vote on key decisions
• Adjustable difficulty for any skill level
• Movie Mode, to watch the game as a binge-worthy cinematic thriller
• Optional in-game purchases

The result works equally well as a solo story or as a group night in, with friends passing the pad or voting on what happens next. Because the cast is played by recognisable performers and captured in detail, scenes feel closer to a film than to a typical game.

Why play The Quarry on PS5

The DualSense controller supports vibration, and Remote Play is available. Online play requires PS Plus, but the couch co-op mode needs nothing more than a few friends and the pad. Online play is listed as optional, so the game can be enjoyed without it.
