The Outer Worlds 2 (PS5)

The Outer Worlds 2 is the sequel to Obsidian Entertainment's first-person sci-fi RPG, and this is the physical disc for PlayStation 5, published by Microsoft Corporation. You play an Earth Directorate agent sent to find out what is tearing open dangerous rifts across a colony, with a new crew, new weapons and new enemies along the way.

A colony on the brink of war

Your investigation leads to Arcadia, the home of skip drive technology. The colony is in the middle of a factional conflict: the ruling Protectorate is being challenged by a rebellion from its own religious order and by a corporate invasion, while the rifts keep spreading. Each faction wants to control or close them for its own ends, and the fate of the colony, and of the wider galaxy, rests on the choices you make.

Moving through the different zones of the colony, you uncover hidden lore and decide which factions deserve your trust.

Gameplay and features

• First-person sci-fi RPG with a story shaped by your decisions
• Build your commander around the abilities and choices that fit your playstyle, including your strengths and flaws
• Take the diplomatic route, plan carefully or lean into chaos, and watch the colony react
• Recruit companions with their own traits, backgrounds and goals
• Your influence shapes how your companions grow, and companions can also die
• New weapons, new enemies and new zones to explore in the Arcadia colony
• Single-player, offline experience for 1 player

The appeal is in the way the game keeps score. Dialogue, loyalty and the factions you side with feed back into the story, so two playthroughs can end up in very different places.

Why play The Outer Worlds 2 on PS5

On PlayStation 5 the game supports DualSense vibration, so firefights and impacts come through the controller, and this version is PS5 Pro Enhanced for owners of that console. Because it is offline play only, the full campaign does not depend on an online subscription.
