Red Dead Redemption (PS4)

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar Games' western for PlayStation 4, released on 1 December 2025 as a physical disc. You play former outlaw John Marston in a story that stretches across the American West and Mexico, and the game also includes the Undead Nightmare story. It is a single-player, offline experience rated MENA 21.

John Marston's past comes calling

When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends. His journey takes him across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico as he tries to bury his blood-stained past. It is the critically acclaimed predecessor to the 2018 blockbuster Red Dead Redemption 2.

Also included is Undead Nightmare, the iconic horror story that turns the world of Red Dead Redemption into an apocalyptic fight for survival against a zombie horde.

What is included

• The complete single-player experiences of both Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare
• A story across the American West and Mexico
• Bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition and more
• Offline play only, with no multiplayer content
• Remote Play support and DUALSHOCK 4 vibration
• On-screen text in twelve language options, including English, Spanish, French, German and Italian

Why play it on PS4

A disc for PlayStation 4 means no waiting on anything extra: insert it and play. Remote Play is supported if you want to play away from the TV, and DUALSHOCK 4 vibration adds feedback to riding and shooting.

The game is offline only. That suits long solo sessions, with no multiplayer to distract from the campaign. The listing notes that the game does not feature multiplayer content, so it focuses entirely on the story.

If you have played Red Dead Redemption 2 and want to see where John Marston's story began, this is the game that came before it. If you are new to the series, it works as a complete single-player story that you can finish at your own pace.
