Galar, a new region to explore

Galar is a fresh region with new Pokémon and a new set of trainers to challenge. You begin your journey as a young trainer, assemble a team and follow the path through the region, making discoveries as you travel.

Sword and Shield share the same region and story but feature different legendary Pokémon and some version differences. Sword is the version with Zacian on the cover.

Galar draws on the look of the United Kingdom, and its Gym Challenge plays out in stadiums in front of cheering crowds. Between gyms you can visit the Wild Area, a large open space where Pokémon roam and the weather changes. In gym battles, the Dynamax feature lets a Pokémon grow to giant size for a few turns, which can swing a fight in your favour.

Sword also features the Fighting-type gym leader Bea, one of the characters that sets this version apart from Shield.
