Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom (PS4)

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is a role-playing game for PlayStation 4, developed by LEVEL-5 and released in March 2018. It follows the young king Evan after he is overthrown in a coup, as he sets out to found a new kingdom, unite his world and protect its people from dark forces. The disc has a PEGI 12 rating.

From coup to kingdom

Evan loses his throne in a coup, and rather than give up he sets out on an extraordinary quest. The goal is to found a new kingdom, bring the world together and defend its inhabitants from the dark forces that threaten them.

The game aims to blur the line between an animated feature film and a video game. Its character designs come from the artist Yoshiyuki Momose, and the soundtrack is composed by Joe Hisaishi, whose name is known worldwide.

The edition listed is the Standard edition on a physical disc, published by BANDAI NAMCO ENTERTAINMENT EUROPE. It is a one-player game with optional in-game purchases, so the story of Evan and his kingdom can be played start to finish without buying anything extra.

As the title suggests, this is the second Ni no Kuni game, and it is the one that puts the founding of a kingdom at the centre of the adventure.
