New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (Nintendo Switch)

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is a platformer for Nintendo Switch, published by Nintendo and released in January 2019. The headline number is 164: that is how many courses the game offers, and they are built for up to four players at once. It is supplied as a physical game card and carries a PEGI 3 rating, so it is suitable for all ages.

A Mario platformer made for sharing

This is part of the Super Mario series, and the pitch is playing together. The official description highlights courses for up to four players, which turns each level into a shared run rather than a solo challenge.

It also stresses that you can enjoy it anytime, anywhere on Nintendo Switch. The size of the course list is what makes this one a long-term game: with 164 courses on the card, there is a lot to work through before you run out of levels.

Gameplay and features

• 164 courses to play through
• Platforming for 1 to 4 players
• Part of the Super Mario series

Why choose the Nintendo Switch version

The Switch version is built around the idea of playing at home with friends or taking the game with you, as the official description puts it: anytime, anywhere. With support for up to four players, it works well as a group game for a family or a table of friends.

The language list covers English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Arabic is not listed. The Standard edition has no extra bundled content in the listing, so the game card itself is the whole package. If you are planning to play with several people, make sure you have enough controllers before you start.
