Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection (PS5)
Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is a PS5 collection that revisits the arcade classics where Mortal Kombat began, together with well-loved home versions and rare fan favourites. It is published by Atari and built on Digital Eclipse's interactive documentary format, on a physical PlayStation 5 disc.
Where Mortal Kombat came from
The collection tells the story behind the series as well as letting you play it. Digital Eclipse's documentary-style presentation looks at how the original game used digitised actors as player sprites in an over-the-top martial-arts fighter, and how that thrilled players, shocked critics and laid the foundation for a franchise that has run for more than 30 years.
Along the way you hear from the original developers, including Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel and Dan Forden, and you see rare concept art, vintage marketing materials and archival video footage. A timeline and character histories cover the lore of Earthrealm, Outworld and Edenia through the arcade era.
