Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Deluxe Edition (Nintendo Switch)

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Deluxe Edition collects the essential games from the early years of Mortal Kombat, and this is the Deluxe Edition on a physical Nintendo Switch game card. If you want the arcade-era roots of the franchise, this is the collection built for it.

A collection built around the franchise's history

The collection follows Digital Eclipse's approach of pairing classic games with the story behind them. Alongside the games you get lore content: a timeline of the original series' storyline and character histories with background on how the fighters were created.

It also draws on an interactive documentary format, with interviews with the original developers, concept art, vintage marketing materials and archival footage. For a series that has been running for over 30 years, that context adds a lot to the arcade-era games themselves.

Why play Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection Deluxe Edition on Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch is a comfortable home for a two-player arcade fighter. The game card is physical, and a pair of controllers is all you need for versus matches.

On-screen languages are English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. Arabic is not listed. The collection is published by Digital Eclipse, rated PEGI 18 and released on 30 October 2025.

This is the pick for players who want to understand why Mortal Kombat became a franchise, not only to play it. The lore sections cover Earthrealm, Outworld and Edenia, so the background to the fighters is there whenever you want to read it between matches. If you only want a modern fighter with a long story mode, a current entry may suit you better; if you want the roots, start here.
