Who it is for and how it fits your setup

This adapter is for PC players who already use, or plan to use, an Xbox Wireless Controller with Windows. Plug it into a USB port and your controllers connect wirelessly, which is handy for a living-room PC, a gaming desk or a tablet.

Its biggest advantage for group play is capacity. With support for up to 8 controllers at once, it can handle a full round of local multiplayer on one machine. If you use a headset, plug it into the controller and the adapter supports wireless stereo sound, so audio travels through the pad instead of needing a separate connection.

The design is compact, 66% smaller than the original adapter, so it takes little space at the back of a PC or on a laptop. The included USB extender lets you move the adapter away from a crowded back panel, which can be useful if your ports are hidden behind a case or monitor.

One thing to check before ordering: the adapter requires a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port and is not compatible with Xbox 360 controllers.

A typical use is a PC connected to a TV or monitor with one or more Xbox Wireless Controllers on the sofa. The adapter handles the link, and a headset plugged into a controller still gets wireless stereo sound. Because it supports up to 8 controllers at once, it also suits a family or friends who play local multiplayer games on the same Windows machine.
