MARVEL Cosmic Invasion (PS5)

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a planet-hopping beat 'em up for PS5, published by DOTEMU and developed by Tribute Games in collaboration with Marvel Games. It pairs full-colour pixel art with fast combo combat, a roster of 15 playable heroes and support for up to four players, and it is rated GENERIC 12.

A galaxy-wide Marvel brawl

The story begins with a threat from Annihilus, who has launched an attack across the galaxy that puts all life at risk. The fight spans locations from New York City to the Negative Zone, and the planet-hopping structure gives the game a real sense of travel.

The roster is a big part of the appeal. Earth-born heroes include Spider-Man, Wolverine, She-Hulk, Captain America, Phoenix, Black Panther, Storm and Iron Man, and they are joined by cosmic characters such as Rocket Raccoon, Beta Ray Bill, Venom, Cosmic Ghost Rider, Nova, Phyla-Vell and the Silver Surfer. Between them they take on the Annihilation Wave.

Gameplay and features

• 15 playable Marvel heroes, from street-level fighters to galactic characters
• Cosmic Swap tag-team system: pick two heroes per level and switch between them instantly
• Dynamic combos and special attacks that change with your pairing
• Pixel art that pays tribute to a classic era of Marvel
• Local and online play for up to four players, with drop-in and drop-out support
• Online play is optional; a PS Plus subscription is required for online
• Action genre, rated GENERIC 12

Cosmic Swap is the system that gives the game its depth. Because every hero has different abilities, the pair you bring into a level changes how combos chain together and when you reach for special attacks. It encourages experimenting with team-ups rather than sticking to one favourite.

Why play it on PS5

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a physical disc for PlayStation 5. With a four-player co-op structure, it is a natural choice for a PS5 that gets shared between friends or family, and the online option lets you team up with players who are not in the room.

Because online play needs a PS Plus subscription, it is worth knowing that the game is also fully playable locally without going online.
