Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Nintendo Switch)

Mario vs. Donkey Kong is an action puzzle game for Nintendo Switch published by Nintendo. You solve puzzles and test your platforming skills to recover the stolen Mini-Marios, with support for one or two players and a PEGI 3 age rating.

A rescue mission for the Mini-Marios

The setup is easy to follow: the Mini-Marios have been stolen, and it is up to you to get them back. That goal drives a game built from puzzles, with platforming used as the way you solve them.

The listing places it in the Action and Puzzle genres. Expect to spend your time working out how to get through each stage and then executing the plan, which suits players who like a game that makes them stop and think without losing the feel of a platformer.

Gameplay and features

• Puzzles and platforming combined in one game
• A story goal of recovering the stolen Mini-Marios
• Action and Puzzle genres
• Support for one or two players
• Rated PEGI 3
• Part of both the Super Mario and Donkey Kong series
• On-screen text in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean and Chinese

The goal of recovering the Mini-Marios gives the game a clear purpose, which helps younger players follow what they need to do. A puzzle platformer also suits both short and long sessions, because a tricky section can be rethought and retried at your own pace.

Since the game belongs to both the Super Mario and Donkey Kong series, it is a natural pick for fans of either character.

Why play it on Nintendo Switch

This is a Nintendo Switch game on a physical game card, so you can simply insert it and start. The two-player support means you do not have to solve every puzzle on your own.

With a PEGI 3 rating, it is a safe option for the youngest players in the house, and the puzzle-led design makes it a calmer choice than a fast action game.
