Mario Strikers: Battle League Football (Nintendo Switch)

Mario Strikers: Battle League Football is a party football game for Nintendo Switch published by Nintendo. It combines teamwork, tackles and table-turning items with the score-boosting Hyper Strikes, supports up to eight players and is rated PEGI 7.

Football with a Mario twist

This is not a simulation of the sport. Battle League Football belongs to the Football, Party and Sports genres, which tells you the priority: fast, chaotic matches that are easy to pick up and fun to watch over a friend's shoulder.

Nintendo describes the action around a few core ideas. You win through teamwork and tackles, items can turn a match around when you are behind, and Hyper Strikes give you a way to boost your score at the crucial moment. Together they keep matches unpredictable right until the final whistle.

Gameplay and features

• Football in a party-game format, from the Mario sports line
• Teamwork and tackles at the centre of the action
• Table-turning items that can change the result of a match
• Score-boosting Hyper Strikes
• Support for up to eight players
• Rated PEGI 7
• On-screen text in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese

Because the game is built around items and Hyper Strikes, the lead can change quickly, so a team that is behind is never out of the match. That makes it forgiving for newer players who join a group of regulars, and it keeps experienced players honest.

Why play it on Nintendo Switch

Battle League Football is a Nintendo Switch game, and a game built for several players is what a shared console does best. The listing supports up to eight players, so a group of friends or a family can rotate in and out of matches.

The physical game card is easy to hand around, and the PEGI 7 rating makes it suitable for younger players. If you already own a few controllers, this is a title that makes use of them.
