Little Nightmares (PS4)

Editions: available as Standard and Complete Edition - choose your edition above.

Little Nightmares is the first entry in a horror series that has been drawing players since 2017, here on a physical disc for PlayStation 4 from BANDAI NAMCO ENTERTAINMENT EUROPE. It has a MENA rating of 16, Arabic on-screen text and a short, sharp setup: you are tiny, everything else is huge and hungry.

A small child inside the Maw

Six is a child on her own inside the Maw, a vast metal vessel full of warped, oversized adults. You wake in a dark, damp room with nothing but a brass lighter and no memory of how you ended up there. The only way out is to stay alert, move carefully and make the most of being small. Fail, and the fate waiting for you is worse than anything you could have imagined.

Gameplay and features

• Slip through gaps and climb shelves and drawers to reach passages that adults cannot
• Stay hidden and use distractions to get past the Residents who patrol the Maw
• Run when hiding is not an option, because being noticed means being chased
• Puzzle, adventure and action elements wrapped in a dark, whimsical tone
• Single-player and offline
• Remote Play support listed in the specs

Why play it on PS4

This is a compact, atmospheric game made for evening sessions, and the disc version keeps it simple: no online features, one player, no distractions. The specs note Remote Play support, and the same PS4 disc also plays on a PS5 with a disc drive. On-screen text comes in Arabic, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Swedish and Russian, so Arabic readers are covered for menus and prompts, though the specs do not mention Arabic voice-over. If you enjoyed the sequel, this is where the series began, and it is a good pick for anyone who wants a horror game that is atmospheric and tense without being long or complicated to learn.
