Who it is for and how it fits your setup

The Tarantula Pro is aimed at players who split their time between devices. Connect it with a cable, over Bluetooth or through the 2.4 GHz dongle, and use it with a PC or Steam library, a Nintendo Switch, or an iOS or Android device.

Switching between Switch and Xbox button layouts is handled by a gear mechanism for the ABXY buttons, and the layout is selected automatically for the connected device. On Switch you also get HD Rumble, the gyroscope, NFC and Bluetooth wake-up, so the controller keeps the console features Switch players expect.

For control, the Mag-Res TMR sticks and Hall Effect or micro-switch triggers are the main upgrades over a basic pad, and two back buttons plus nine mappable buttons let you put extra actions where your fingers already rest. A 6-axis gyro and RGB lighting round out the feature list, and the 1200 mAh battery covers wireless play.

It is a good fit for someone who wants one controller for a Nintendo Switch, a PC game and a phone, without buying a separate pad for each.

The three connection modes matter in daily use. Wired mode is there when you prefer a cable, Bluetooth offers a cable-free connection, and the 2.4 GHz dongle gives you a third wireless option. The switchable ABXY layout means the button labels can match the device you are using, and the automatic selection saves you from changing it by hand each time you connect to a different device.
