Do Not Open (PS5)
Do Not Open is a survival horror and puzzle game for PlayStation 5, on physical disc and published by Unreality S.L. Inspired by escape room mechanics, it is a single-player, offline experience rated GENERIC 16.
One man, one manor, a ticking clock
Do Not Open is a tragic story about one man's battle to retain sanity and shut out the voices in his head. Michael J. Goreng, a prestigious zoologist and epidemiologist, is trapped within a warped version of his own house while his wife and daughter are in severe danger.
Your job is to escape the manor while a mysterious paranormal threat stalks you. A clock ticks down to zero and the pressure is intense: the game's own message is to solve, hide or die.
Gameplay and features
- Survival horror inspired by escape room mechanics
- Old-school survival horror values: vulnerability and fear
- Hiding rather than fighting is the key mechanic
- Procedurally designed: a different house layout, object locations and puzzle codes each game
- Over 2,193,360 different combinations for replayability
- Offline, single-player play
Why play it on PlayStation 5
This is the PS5 disc and it runs offline, so you play at your own pace in a quiet room with the lights low. Because layouts and puzzle codes change every time, a second run is a different challenge.
On-screen text is available in Russian, German, Spanish, French, English and Portuguese. Arabic is not listed.
Rated GENERIC 16, it suits players who prefer tension and puzzle-solving to action. The plot itself is a puzzle, so there are loose ends to tie up before you uncover the truth behind the Judith manor.
The game is built around vulnerability. Hiding rather than fighting changes how you move through a room: you listen, wait and work out what to try next while the clock runs down. It draws on masters of horror from video games, literature and cinema, and keeps to the true survival horror values of fear and helplessness.
