2.4 GHz digital systems (DJI Mic, Rode Wireless Go, Hollyland LARK) are license-free, auto-connect without frequency scanning, are immune to FM interference, and produce digital audio. They are the dominant choice for content creators and videographers. UHF analog/digital systems operate at 470–698 MHz, offer longer reliable range (up to 100m+), and are preferred for professional live events, theatre, and large-venue production where 2.4 GHz congestion from Wi-Fi networks could be an issue.

Microphone placement is the most critical factor: clip the transmitter capsule 15–20cm below the mouth (lapel/chest position), pointing upward. Avoid placing it under thick clothing layers — fabric muffles high frequencies. Set transmitter gain so your voice peaks at –12 to –6 dB, leaving headroom before clipping. Enable the low-cut (high-pass) filter if available to reduce clothing rustle and handling noise below 100 Hz. Monitor audio through headphones on the receiver during recording to catch issues immediately.

Yes. Modern wireless mic systems include adapters for: USB-C (direct to Android/iPad/MacBook), Lightning (older iPhone), and 3.5mm TRS (DSLR, mirrorless camera, laptop mic input). The receiver plugs into whichever input your device uses. Some systems (DJI Mic 2, Rode Wireless Pro) also record audio internally in the transmitter as a backup — critically useful if the wireless signal is briefly interrupted. Confirm which adapter connectors are included in the box before purchasing.
