Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag is the classic pirate action-adventure from Ubisoft, released in 2013 and available here on a PlayStation 4 disc. You become Edward Kenway, a charismatic pirate captain trained by Assassins, and set out to build a name in the Caribbean.

The pirate fantasy and the reality behind it

The story plays against the gritty reality behind the pirate legend. Edward can switch smoothly between the Hidden Blade of the Assassin Order, four flintlock pistols and dual cutlass swords. He stands alongside legendary names such as Blackbeard and Calico Jack as a lawless Republic takes shape in the Caribbean, a place where corruption, greed and cruelty are commonplace.

Gameplay and features

  • Command the Jackdaw and strike fear into everyone who sees her
  • Plunder and pillage to upgrade your ship with ammunition and equipment
  • Attack and board massive galleons
  • Explore a large, diverse open world from Kingston to Nassau
  • Loot underwater shipwrecks, search lost ruins for treasure and assassinate Templars in growing cities
  • Multiplayer with a new set of pirate characters in exotic, colourful locations

The combination of ship combat and on-foot action is the heart of the game. You can sail between locations, board enemy vessels and then switch to close-quarters fighting with blades and pistols.

Why play it on PS4

On PlayStation 4 the game offers DUALSHOCK 4 vibration and supports up to 8 online players with PS Plus, with online play optional; a PS Plus subscription, an internet connection, a Ubisoft account and a PlayStation Network account are required for online features.
