Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo Switch)

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Nintendo’s life-simulation game for Nintendo Switch, in which you start a new life with Nook Inc.’s Deserted Island Getaway Package. Rated PEGI 3 and listed for one to eight players, it is a welcoming game for families as well as for solo players who like to build at their own pace.

Starting over on a deserted island

The setup is a getaway with a difference. Rather than hurrying through objectives, you begin on a deserted island and shape your new life there. The genres listed are simulation and animal life, and that combination sums up the experience: a calm, character-filled world that you gradually make your own. It is part of the long-running Animal Crossing series from Nintendo.

Why play it on Nintendo Switch

The listing supports up to eight players, which makes the game easy to share within a household. A relaxed simulation also suits a console you can dip into for short or long sessions. The physical game card format makes it simple to store, lend and keep alongside your other favourites, and being a first-party Nintendo title, it has a long history of broad appeal.

Released on 20 March 2020, this is the standard edition of the game on a physical game card, which is easy to give as a gift or pass between family members. Because it is rated PEGI 3, there are no age concerns for the youngest players.
